Saturday Ukrainian School in Zaandam
The purpose of the school: to preserve and pass on to children the Ukrainian language and culture, our traditions and identity.
The school is a public volunteer organization, it is a weekend school and it is not the main general educational institution under the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The school works according to the Ukrainian studies method "Clay" (https://discursus.com.ua/series/hlyna) and the method of studying modern Ukrainian literature "Book Immersion" (https://zanurennia.wordpress.com/)
The language of instruction is Ukrainian, the language of communication at school is also Ukrainian.

General information
Second semester: 13.01.2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00.
Lessons are held at the Oekraïense Club at the address: Rozengracht 6-8, 1506 SC Zaandam

You can come and see the location on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 to 16:00. Two groups are on the first floor and one on the second.

Lessons schedule
Lessons every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00. A teacher and an assistant will work with students in each lesson.
During classes, children have two breaks: a short break of 10 minutes after the first lesson and a long break of 30 minutes after the second. During the long break, in good weather, students go for a walk on the playground with teachers and parent volunteers.
Lunch and a festive treat
Parents are asked to bring food (fruits, vegetables, sandwiches) and drinking water for children. Students have lunch together with teachers.
It is not necessary to bring a gift to the birthday, but if you decide to do it, please treat everyone with small healthy treats - fresh fruit, homemade pies, boxes with raisins, lozenges, etc.

Curriculum:
Saturday at the Ukrainian school will consist of 3 lessons:
• Ukrainian culture (integrated course of history, culture, geography, art, nature of Ukraine);
• Book immersion (modern and classical Ukrainian literature + quality translations);
• Ukrainian language.
Workshops and additional school activities
Periodically, the school will organize various workshops and creative projects for children, as well as visits to the school by interesting guests who have something to share with our pupils.

Admission of children and tuition fees
We can accommodate 3 groups of 10 children each:
1. 3-5 years
2. 6-8 years old
3. 9+ years
Donation for education
The financial contribution for education is calculated for two periods - the first academic semester (from September to December) and the second academic semester (from January to July).
For the second half of the 2023-2024 academic year (Saturday 21), the financial contribution is:
378 euros for the first child,
189 euros - for each subsequent child.
Why is education paid?
1. The money will go primarily to the necessary educational materials, workbooks, textbooks and books
2. The balance will go to volunteer compensation for teachers. According to Dutch law, 5 euros per hour, no more than 190 euros per month.
3. For a successful educational process, we also need discipline from students.
If you join the school in the middle of an academic term, the payment is calculated from the date of joining.
Payment for missed classes will not be compensated.
The child is considered a student of the Ukrainian school. after payment. The first lesson is trial.
Please note that we can currently accommodate a maximum of 10 children of each age group. Lists and queues will be formed in the order of receipt of completed questionnaires. After the set is closed, you get on the waiting list.
