On February 24, 2025, the third year of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, we gathered at the Municipality of Zaanstad for a short but important Solidarity March. We brought candles as a symbol of the lost lives and placed them on the Sofa Vyshyvanka as a symbol of our mother Ukraine.
We commemorated the memory of all those who died with a moment of silence and sang the national anthem of Ukraine as a sign of the strong spirit and our hope in the future.
Very important guests were present who expressed their support for the Ukrainians and Ukraine: Mayor of Zaanstad Jan Hamming Gemeente Zaanstad, Member of the European Parliament Thijs Reuten, Renke Edens Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid and our Embassy of Ukraine Valentyna Volkova, Kateryna Gabak leader of the movement @maidan.to.dam, and Viktoria Masnenko, who shared her experiences about life without electricity in Ukraine.
We would like to thank our Dutch friends, many of whom participated in the march, for their continued support and support of Ukraine and the Ukrainians. We appreciate your support and will never tire of thanking ❤️ you

Photo exhibition «Brave to Bring the Light» by DTEK was opened at the Oekraïense Club. We thank PR manager Pavlo Bilodid from DTEK for his great speech and the opening.
The opening took place in the dark, we tried to feel and understand even a little bit what it means to live in a constant battle for light. We used flashlights to view the photos. The flashlights will soon go to the front to bring the light to our defenders.
More than 30 Ukrainian photographers documented Ukraine's heroic resistance to energy terror. Based on these photos, DTEK has published a book with the same name and some photos have been printed in large format for the exhibition.
This exhibition is about the Ukrainians' struggle for light – both from the outside and from within, as well as the courage of each individual to continue working in their fields, because darkness disappears where light appears.
We thank the DTEK team for the exhibition and all the material that was contributed to it, and we thank the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of the Netherlands for their support and help with the organization.
The exhibition lasts until March 24, come and see it for yourself. 🇺🇦

On February 24, the first workshop for making trench candles “Bring the Light” took place in the Oekraïense Club.
About 40 people completed the workshop and made trench candles, which provide warmth and light to the defenders of Ukraine in the trenches at the front, and received a certificate at the end. Some took the candle home, most left it in the Oekraïense Club, and we have already packed these candles for shipping to our defenders in Ukraine.
On the second floor, Olena Smirnova with the children painted candles with Petrykivka paintings.
16 Ukrainian volunteers were with you step by step through the whole process. Together we tried to understand a little bit what it means to live without electricity or with a power cut schedule.
We thank all our volunteers who worked for months to create the workshop and trained. We also thank everyone who brought materials for making trench candles.
A huge thanks to our special guests who participated in the workshop and made a candle: the mayor of the municipality of Zaanstad Jan Hamming, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of the Netherlands Valentyna Volkova and Renke Edens from the Ministry of Justice and Security.
This masterclass was a true example of the power of collaboration and unity. Thank you all for your participation and light 🕯️💙💛
